What this site is

Foundation Shades is a free guide that compares foundation shades by the colour of their retailer swatch images. It's run by Foundation Shades (hello@foundationshades.com). Using the site is free and needs no account.

Results are a guide

Matches are based on colour data, mostly from photos taken in January 2021, which vary in lighting and accuracy. They help you narrow your choice; they don't guarantee that a shade will match your skin. Check a shade in person or with a sample before you buy. We aren't responsible for purchases made on the strength of a result.

No connection with brands or retailers

Brand and product names belong to their owners and are used only to identify products. We're not connected with or endorsed by any brand or retailer, and we don't sell products.

Using the site fairly

Please don't copy the site's content or data in bulk, or put an unreasonable load on it with automated requests. The underlying 2021 colour data is available from The Pudding under the MIT licence; see our data.

Liability

We provide the site as it is and do our best to keep it accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be either. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
