About

Foundation Shades exists because buying foundation online is a guess. Some well-known shade finders list matches in no clear order or alphabetically, and not all of them say how close each match is.

We rank every range by how close its colour data is to the shade you wear, and say which way each match leans. We're also plain about what the data can and can't tell you. See how it works.

The site is run by Foundation Shades. It's free to use, needs no account, and doesn't collect what you search for. We aren't connected with any brand or retailer.

Every figure on this site comes from our shade data or is checked against its official source with AI tools before a page goes live. The date of each check is recorded. Figures from our data, such as how many shades a brand has, are worked out from the data each time the site is built.
